A Project for All to Enjoy
Handprints of hope (Use hand prints of children, adults, and pets)
Wings of hope- draw wings with hope written inside
Footprints-with friends you never walk alone and on the reverse write Psalms 23.
Messages of hope- letting people write words of encouragement on the quilt. If you are using sharpies you can write and trace after making the quilt
Quilt Instructions:
- 2 large sheets, fabric paint, mattress pad (smaller than sheets if you don’t use the eyelet), roll of cotton eyelet ruffle
- -Lay sheet flat, get volunteers to make handprints on sheet.
- -Let dry. If using the eyelet, turn sheet wrong side out like pillowcase.
- -Pin the eyelet on the inside. Stitch 3 sides. Turn out.
- -Put mattress pad inside the sheets (just like a pillow).
- Now you can either stitch around hands (if you do this use a solid color sheet for the other side) or just stitch diagonals to hold padding in place.
- Now, place the eyelet on the open side and stitch closed.
- You have a gorgeous quilt; and something that you can raffle for an donation..

Information for Volunteers
- Often you can get motels of friends to donate used sheets, mattress pads and comforters which brings the cost of the quilts to almost nothing, start to finish including painting - about 2 hours - most of which is waiting for paint to dry - quicker is using sharpies to trace hands
- You can also use the $1 flannel blankets from Wal-mart and cut up mattress pads or comforters to make smaller quilts
- For small children you could use pillowcases
